MCI DEC 2017 ANALYSIS
FMGE EXAM DEC 2017, was conducted in a single session with Common Questions to all.
Paper 1, as usual, was relatively easy as compared to Paper 2. Most of the Questions were One-Liners and Students found it to be Scoring. Students found the paper easy but the options seemed to puzzle a lot of students. There were around 17-20 Q in Anatomy overall with most of the Q in the first paper. Biochemistry was relatively less this time while OBG, SURGERY, OPHTHO, ENT, ANATOMY, PSM were high Yielding subjects. Lots of clinical orientated One-Liners were seen in Paper 2 and thus a lot of students were seen struggling with the time management.
Paper 1 consisted mostly of Pre-Clinical Subjects and Paper 2 had Clinical Subjects + ParaClinical. Again this time the Blueprint for the No of Q was not followed. Medicine Q was moderate to tough while Pharmacology had a lot of Q's and was together asked from diff Subjects (OBG, ENT, OPHTHO)
Micro Q seemed to be easy and doable. Most of the Q was from basic Microbiology with few Q from bacteriology and none from Parasitology.
Q from the PROAFS Subjects was easy and most of the students found it doable during the exams.
Students were in a combat with the Image Based Q (IBQ) during their preparation period while after the exam it was a relief as most of the students marked the IBQ correct. The IBQ asked this time was very basic and was mainly focussed on the Most imp presentations from each subject. 1 IBQ which featured in the Exam was "ROBOTIC SURGERY" and was very evident from the picture.
Revision Again played the most Imp role during the exam and Notes + Mcq's + Again Notes was the ideal approach which Most of the students agreed on.
Advice: Don't Leave any subject, but focus on the Imp ones keeping in Mind the Marks associated with per Subject. Make your basics strong and revise at least 3-4 times. Make your Strong points Stronger and weak ones Good. Give mocks to adjust your time management and also to prepare a Strategy. Solve MCQ's on a daily basis.
